I’ve been debating for awhile about adding diet and health related posts here, or starting a new blog entirely that is just that. However, I believe, and I’m sure most everyone else will also, that beauty starts inside. Our bodies are, of course, more than the clothes we put on. It’s our mental state, physical health, lifestyle and diet, ideas and beliefs. When we are well inside – again, mentally, physically and spiritually, our outside will radiate this well being.
I’ve struggled for so long, as many have, with depression and anxiety, illnesses and food intolerances. Over the years I have learned:
- What I can eat to feel good and stay healthy.
- What foods make me more depressed and anxious, as well as unhealthy physically.
- What I can eat to maintain clear skin.
- A diet that sustains and aids in weight loss.
- A lifestyle that promotes calm and overall wellbeing.
- How to take care of my mental and spiritual health.
Let me be clear: I’m a work in progress on my best days, and a train wreck the rest of the time! Knowing is one thing – it takes constant work to maintain any good habit, no matter how small it may seem. I’m good at consistency – consistently not productive, or consistently keeping with good habits. And on that note, it is crucial to know your limits and be honest with yourself about what you can do in one day. This does NOT mean you beat yourself up over what you feel you cannot tackle just yet! Sometimes, we can only grab life by the hour. Sometimes we can lay out beautiful plans for the day/week, only to have them derailed by a sleepless night, sudden sickness in the house, a car breakdown, or any number of unforeseen things. I am still learning that one set back isn’t the end of the world… and at that moment, to take it hour by hour.
So on this blog that is dedicated to dressing, accessorizing and beautifying the outside, I would like to begin a few weekly posts dedicated to beautifying the inside.
If there is anything that you would like to see discussed, let me know! I can’t wait to begin!
